Hello

Hope you are enjoying this fine spell of weather we are having.
Just a reminder that we don’t have a refrigerated van, so I hope everything has arrived safely to you in good order but if not just drop me a message.

The sun has brought many UK crops on and without even trying I have basically ordered almost exclusively UK veg for next week (minus sweet potatoes and onions).

There’s quite a lot to talk about this week but the sun is shining as I type this so I’ll try to make it quick!

Passion4Plants have finally got a few more lines for us as what can only be described as a tough start to their growing season.
Most of which can be found on this page - they’ve got two types of garlic, french beans, tomatoes, la diva cucumbers and mixed salad leaves. As Passion4Plants are a very small operation all of the above will be very limited, the only item they've got in good numbers this week are delistar cucumbers which are in some boxes rather than up as extras.

On the opposite scale of organic farming we welcome back two fairly sizeable farms.
The first being Royal Oak in Lancashire, our main wholesaler is based in Lancashire so Royal Oak farm is one of their main farms. Run by Peter and Cheryl Lydiate, they grow around 65 different crops and this week marks the start of their season which will run for around 9 months. Expect mixed courgettes and pak choi from them next week.
The second is a much more local farm, The Organic Pantry based in Tadcaster. To be honest, I had a bit of a disastrous experience with Organic Pantry when my business first started, there were quality issues galore and ever since then I have avoided turning to the biggest local organic farm. However, apparently a lot has changed over at their operation behind the scenes in the last 3 years and Freddy says things are back on the right path, so I have tentatively put in an order for rainbow chard for next week. Hopefully things work out and I can source a lot of produce this season from only 20 miles away!

And finally 3 big UK additions to talk about…

It’s sweetcorn season which is one of the highlights of the year for me (although skipped by many = more for me). Most boxes have theses next week, one cob in smaller boxes and two in the larger boxes. Hopefully the price of these will drop and I can get two in all sized boxes!
It’s also, amazingly, apple season! The first UK crop of discovery apples has come good and these will be in the larger fruit boxes.
And to go with the UK apples, there are also UK Victoria plums!

I am going to visit another local farm on Friday which I hope will be able to supply us with some more lovely locally grown veg!

Enjoy the sun, have a great weekend!
Thanks
Sam
