Hello

It’s that time of the week again, next week's boxes have been planned and are now online.

For those of you who don’t know, Ed (the tall chap who mainly does Thursday deliveries but also the odd Tuesday to cover for me) is one third of Yorkshire Mushroom Emporium. Yorkshire Mushroom Emporium are based just near The Irish Centre on the A64 and are growing gourmet mushrooms right on our doorstep.
They started in a garage in Ilkley and have since featured on the hairy bikers and now have a unit 10x the size in Leeds supplying high end restaurants across the city like Prashad.
Last week their oyster mushrooms sold well so this week they are back and can be found here. We will be looking to add extra varieties in the near future!

Fun fact - since Ed has been doing deliveries for us, he and Rob from Passion4Plants got talking during an early morning collection and now Yorkshire Mushroom Emporium gives Passion4Plants their spent growing medium which Passion4Plants have been adding to their compost which will be used to grow veg for us this season. How great is that!

Speaking of Rob & Sarah they have a bit more kale available this week along with their usual extras. They’ll also have some swiss chard coming up in the not too distant future.

I've listed some relatively short shelved individual cheeses this week that we found in the back of the fridge. There is one available of each cheese and are all priced at the reduced price of £4. They are all very good, award winning cheese and are as follows...

Tremains Organic (BB - 18/03/2024)
Ashdown Foresters Hard Cheese (BB - 03/04/2024)
Double Gloucester - (BB - 11/03/2024)

Leeds Bread Co-op have a new special for the next two weeks, their roast potato and rosemary loaf.

At this time of year there is never a lot of new UK varieties to shout about but there is still a good range of British to choose from, just over 60% of veg in next week’s boxes is home grown. Some of the most exciting items include cauliflowers, purple sprouting broccoli and savoy cabbages.

From Europe you can expect much more colour on your plate with courgettes, red peppers, butternut squash, radishes and lettuces.

Fruit next week includes fairtrade bananas, Italian royal gala apples, Dutch conference pears, Spanish nadorcott clementines and UK grown crimson crisp apples.

Thanks a lot, enjoy your weekend.
Sam
