Hello

Hope you’ve had a grand week so far!

If you are not here for October half term please go into your account and book a holiday now please!!

Next week there isn’t much local veg around. Meanwoods season has near-enough finished and both Denton Reserve and Living Potential aren’t able to harvest for us.

So we have a bit of veg from Passion4Plants but mostly relying on our main wholesaler Organic North. There’ll be quite a bit of veg coming from Lancashire and some coming from South Yorkshire.

As Organic North are based in Manchester, one of their main partner farms is Royal Oak in Ormskirk, Lancashire run by Peter & Cheryl Lydiate. Next week coming from their farm we’ll have -

  • Beetroot - Red
  • Carrots
  • Parsnips
  • Broccoli - Cape Purple
  • Cauliflowers
  • Squash - Harlequin
  • Sweetcorn
  • Cabbage - Red
  • Kale - Green
  • Spring Greens - Red

From Doncaster we’ve got celeriac, lettuces and leeks coming from Polybell Farm.

Next week there are a couple of vegetables coming from Europe to look out for including red peppers and aubergines.

Fruit next week is looking great with a fantastic combo of European and British fruit.
We’ve got two apples from the UK - red pippin and more excellent pitmaston pineapples (those are apple's not pineapples) along with British conference pears.
From Europe I’ve tentatively ordered my first box of Spanish citrus, a highlight of the year for me. I’ve gone with oronule clementines but they’ll only be one box available to begin with whilst I do a bit of a taste test to see how zingy they are. But no doubt these will start to flow very shortly into boxes this autumn.
Fruit is rounded off with osteen mangoes and more pomegranates.

Have a fantastic weekend!
Thanks
Sam
